Week 2
Today is Friday the 13th...(Oh how I can't wait to see that movie) and marks the 2-year anniversary of Olivia Magazine, which means we have a party! And we all know how I love parties. (Oh...Behave!!!) Today also marks my second week here in Finland. Oh, how the time is flying. This weekend my plans are to hang with my coworkers tonight after the party.
Tomorrow I want to go buy that shirt I was looking at last week, checked on it yesterday and it's still in the window. I also found another shop i want to check out that we advertise in our magazine. Looks pretty cool! I love me some shopping. Next I plan to go to the Design Forum where they sell many Finnish designs and see what I can find to bring back home. Sunday I plan to take the Star/Superstar ship to Tallinn. It leaves at 10:30 and I will arrive there at 12:30 then I can spend the whole day exploring. And the ship again leaves Tallinn at 21:00 (9pm) and arrives back in Helsinki at 23:00 (11pm) Makes for a long day, but a really cool adventure.So...My second week is coming to a close and I wanted to report back to you how things went. The presentation went ok. I had a few issues with my visuals, but the informal DVD played and they got to see the office back home, my coworkers, friends and family, holidays and the sports we get involved with. The formal presentation visual didn't work, but they all said we can view it next month when we have the monthly meeting again. I will say this I was able to show Tuomas all of the presentation so he knew from day 1 what he was getting into. hahaha And for those who think I am not working and only playing here...well I have news for you. I am keeping most of my work information secret for my presentation when I get back. But to be brief about it....I am very much so working on the website of Olivia. Those who have worked on websites before know that it is like fixing something in your house. One thing after another...you just have to take it one step at a time. It is coming along though and I will be happy to report back when it is completed. The overall shell looks totally fab! Yesterday I sat in with Niina for about an hour discussing the concept of Olivia and she described the page layout and told me how it all began. It was very interesting and I must correct myself when I said I am working for a fashion magazine...cause its actually a STYLE magazine. And believe me there is a difference. I may not have high fashion, but i def have my own style. :) And that also goes to say that the Finns have their own style. Some wear more colors than others. Today I actually dressed in Olivias colors red, black and white. What else happened this week...Oh I went to a design museum with Petra last night. They had an opening for an exhibit called Head First. Head First is an exhibition exploring design and culture related to the human head. It will present a wide range of objects designed for the head ranging from hats, helmets, jewellery and glasses to implant technology and virtual reality. The exhibition also addresses cultural change in terms of fashions, make-up and hairstyles. It was really interesting to see all of it and I had a great time. Petra and I are going to Fazer on Saturday night. It is right near my house and said to have the best ice cream in town. Oh boy!
As I promised before to show you the pictures of when i walked the park. I can't wait to be like these kids and go sledding. Kaisa and I talked about going the last weekend of the month to either skiing, snowboarding or sledding or maybe all 3! :)

Yesterday for lunch I went with Kaisa and Tiki to a place called Sävel. This is where Piggy was in action. They call it happy day and I will say that I have to agree. It was a very cute place close to the office that serves the best meatballs I ever tasted. And we all know how much I love meatballs. It was a buffet style place and I got to try many Finnish foods. I really enjoyed myself. I had meatballs, mashed potatoes, carrots, pickles and cranberries. I also ate some pea soup. And then to top that off I had pancakes with jam. I know Pig right. Loved it! Then last night I tried this place that is right downstairs next to Roberts Coffee. It's called Iguana. It was good. I had a chicken burrito and a strawberry drink. I have to tell you when I say these things like burrito and pancake...its all very different here. But everything tasted yummy to me.

Many people ask how the heck I am dealing with all this snow. To me its beautiful and as Dad told me just layer it up as much as you can to keep warm. That's what I did this morning but then realized after the morning that my last layer my shirt was on backwards. hahaha I guess I should have done my checklist. Doh!!
By the way... I want to give a shout out to my grandparents who are reading this also. I love you so very much and hope everything is great! I love you and miss you so much! XOXO

I also want to see the movie "Friday the 13th," looks like it was re-made real good. Also enjoy your Star/Superstar ship adventure and do some shopping and sight-seeing!....Todd :-)
Oh no! Everybody knows I make the best meata balls you ever tasted. Love Mombo Italiano
Yep, Fisherman and Strawberry read everything. Viewed all the pix and can't wait for more. They feel they are at the movies. Ha Ha. Gram said next time she's making popcorn. Anyway, Rosemary brought over her laptop and wow, what a treat dear gal. Mombo
Shannie,
I am loving your blogging. I am living vicariuosly through you.
Today we built a chicken coop in the back yard for our four new baby chicks. I will e-mail you a picture. I hope you are checking your e-mail.
You should take a picture of the food you are eating, just like they do on www.roadfood.com.
Then we can all see what you are eating.
Mark got in an accident on Thursday (not his fault) and his beautiful new car is wrecked!! Aaack! He is not happy.
I love you,
Sheila
