Shop till you drop!!

Today the May issue of Olivia is on newsstands along with the mini travel shopping supplement I helped design! I was able to see it now in print and was very pleased with the outcome. The 36-page mini magazine is meant for people who are traveling so they know where to go when they are in that particular place. It provides 9 locations, to include Barcelona, Paris, London, Milan, Madrid, Antwerp, Berlin, Copenhagen and NEW YORK CITY!! There is a map of each place and where the shops are located. The map is in a totally awesome watercolor graphic and provides bullet points for the shops in the area. Then there is a general description of the shop, what street it’s on and the website address. Also the design for each section provides a picture of the shop, the exterior of the shop or maybe just an item you can purchase. If you think that isn’t enough, there is also a section with a fashion designer and a top selection for relaxing and eating a meal or if you want a nice place to sleep in the city. I think the best part about it is that it’s small so you can carry it easily in your purse or fanny pack if you prefer. (By the way Gina Tricot – a store here in Finland - is totally trying to bring back the fanny pack and hammer pants..It’s Hammer time!)
Yesterday, I had lunch with Marjaana and Virve at Sasso. The website describes Sasso as a modern blend of a stylish food restaurant and a cozy wine bar. I describe it as the perfect atmosphere for good food and great company. Everything was delicious! I started out with a goat cheese salad and mineral water and then for my main meal I ate Pasta Carbonara. It was a wonderful meeting to talk about the experience I have had here for the last 3 months working with Bonnier Publications for Olivia magazine. We also discussed how we could prepare for the next GROW ambassador...meaning Is there something I could tell Michael about Finland that the guide book won’t tell you!! I have to admit being the first GROW ambassador in Finland, everyone has been soooo super nice and my stay has been a wonderful and challenging experience. I was very happy to take the time out for a lunch to reflect on the past months and what it has meant for all of us.
This weekend I am heading to Amsterdam! I am super excited to have the opportunity to travel and see many places while I have been here. I plan to see the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum, the passageway of Begihof, take a canal tour and enjoy the sunny weather. Oh and I also want to visit the Anne Frank house. I’m sure just like me lots of you had to read the book so it will be an experience to actually visit for sure.
Off to the Netherlands I go. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Come home to 80 to 90 degree weather. Can't believe it feels like 30 in Helsinki. I can just picture you at the beach...can't you. We all miss you.

WOW! Amsterdam too, you should have a great time! If you mean the "guidebook" that I gave you doesn't tell you, maybe go with some of the smaller things that you experienced. The little eateries, clubs and hole in the well places. I think you have experienced more than the usual person would. Orange and blue game was great. I love the cheering! I had a great time, the game was filled to about half capacity. It was a GREAT experience! Different than watching it on TV, but love the atmosphere. Surprised you can't drink, but understand why....lol....Miss you have a great time in Amsterdam!....Todd :-)
