12/12 - Lions, Tigers and Bears...OH MY!!
This weekend marked the 12/12 which means it was 12 hours light to the 12 hours night! Finally! It was obvious, because Saturday morning I woke up and the sun was shining...time to hit the streets and get some good pics right? And so that is what I did after the Divaani party and the movie Friday the 13th (what a nail biter that was! I must have jumped out of my seat like 10x and the thing is I know the story ...seen it many times...but still jumped when Jason appeared in the remake...Scary! Loved it!) Saturday I walked around the city and through the open market where they were selling fruits, hats and all kinds of things...then I walked and tried to go to Tori for a late breakfast but the place was packed so I decided to go shopping. What else? I bought some little things and then went back to the place to get some lunch. Afterward I decided to walk around a bit more and enjoy all I could with the sun shining. Then I went home and chilled in front of the television. I found that there are many programs we have back home: CSI, Cold Case, Music Videos, Weeds, Californication, Late night with Conan then some new channels like Eurosports (ski jumping, snowboarding), Ice Hockey Games, News and some movies, too. I was happy just to chill since I have been going going going since I got here. Sunday I woke up and went to the Helsinki zoo in Korkeasaari, which is about 20 minutes away by bus. It was so worth the trip, too cause I spent about 5 hours there just walking around checking out all the different animals from Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, South America and North America. :) They also had animals I have never seen before - animals I have seen in books or on animal planet but now was seeing them in real life. I felt horrible when the reindeer looked me in the eyes with that sad face like I ate his brother or something...oops. But no really it was a great experience to see a rocky mountain goat, reindeer, a red panda (made me think of you manda panda), a bearded vulture, owls, a camel, monkeys, turtles, snakes, Chilean flamingo, Persian gazelle, swans, European bison, wolverine, Markhor, frogs, lions, tigers, snow leapards, bears and European mink. I got pics, too. Some of the monkeys were the greatest laughter of the day. I couldn't get a good picture of my favorite but I stole it from the website. Check out this guy! Look at that lil guy...I could hear Courtney saying as I was laughing at his appearance. Check it!

Love the catchy titles!! So you had a lot hours of dark before? I told you Friday the 13th was going to make you jump, but it was really good remake. Glad to hear you can still watch some shows you like, but still see some new stuff. That's how we have American Idol, thanks to Europe. The trip to the zoo sounded like a lot of fun. I love zoos. I am more for the cats (go figure). Any Polar Bears? That monkey is funny looking but kinda cute too.....lol...You take care!....Todd
