I feel like Bon Jovi!!
Whooah, we're half way there...Ohhhh...Livin on a prayer.....Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear.........Whooah (I bet I just got that song in your head hahaha) Well this weekend marks the half way point for us GROW peeps and I have to admit. I am sad about the time flying so fast. Although it has been a great adventure and I don't want to seem too greedy, but I wanna stay longer!! But then don't we always want what we can't have. Besides I know that the next GROW person Michael will have a different experience being here in Summer and also a different project to work on and I am very lucky to have the time that I did here and the experiences that I have had. I just can't believe its so close already to be leaving. With that said I gotta think of what else I can do and see before I come back home and soak in that Florida sun. I spoke about Copenhagen, Amsterdam and other places, but I just can't afford it all. And there is still so much more to see here in Helsinki. This weekend I plan to explore again cause I realized that most of my pictures really aren't giving Finland justice of the beauty here. It is true that its cold and dark and foggy when I take the pictures...yeah its totally the weathers fault not the photographer...hahaha But this weekend I am on a mission to take good photos, find more faces and some more great signs! And we have our 1st year anniversary of the launch of Divaani so another party that starts at 3:30 with cake and coffee. Later tonight Tiki and I plan to hit the movies for Friday the 13th! We wanted to see it last month when it was Friday the 13th and we got so lucky that March turned out the same with yet another Friday on the 13th! So its def a plan! Other than that maybe some shopping. By the way I mentioned in my last blog that I was at Café Opera Saturday night and it was confirmed by the manager that Metallica was there the whole night. What What!! I swear I have been so lucky to always be at the right places at the right time- James Blunt, Metallica...who is next...Bon Jovi maybe hahaha! On Monday, I went to the printing house and met with Peter and Thomas from Copenhagen, Denmark. The printing house is located in Forssa and about 2 hours away called Forssan Kirkjapaino (combined with Acta print) where we met Markuu who showed us around and explained about the family owned business. It began in 1917 by Esko Aaltonen. They started printing in 1920 and still have the printer in the building. Awesome! It was neat to see the original printer used compared to the MACHINE used nowadays and to hear that the grandson is the manager of the company named Seppo Aaltonen still having the family in the building!! Aw yeah! It was interesting to see how they worked and what the process was for getting the magazine out for subscriptions and also to the newsstands. The funny part about the Bon Jovi shout out is that my brother Eric totally looks like him I think... Love you bro! Yesterday was Happy Day and we went to Sävel again! Yum! I took some pictures this time so you could see what I have been enjoying. Meatballs and traditional Finnish food, pea soup cranberry juice, pancakes with jam and coffee and they have all of this every Thursday. Love it! Oh...one more thing before I go....a lot of you back home have asked about then Finnish men here. Well as stated before they stare from across the room. And they are usually dark-haired with either green or blue eyes, skinny with very defined cheekbones and polite and don't force themselves on you. The only thing that truly isn't going to be accurate is the personality and getting to know them. The reason I say this is that I really can't tell if someone is my type or someone I would like to chat more with because of the fact that I don't speak the Finnish language. And although many Finns speak very well English....sometimes the words could be misunderstood or maybe not exactly what they want to say. Make sense? Even though I thought I met a prince the first week I was here ...literally hahaha I really have to admit that I don't think you folks back home have to worry about me finding a man and not coming home. Course it could be too early to tell. I still have 6 weeks...and you never know who I might run into...wink wink On that note I miss all of you in the States! Have a wonderful weekend and I will chat with you later and tell you all about what happens here in Helsinki. And Happy Anniversary Divaani!!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing (another Friday the 13th)! We actually have a third one in November also. It's a good movie, prepare to jump and be scared!!! I'm glad you have enjoyed being in Finland, and understand you can't see everything and all the countries in the area, but you have seen and done ALOT! And like you said you still have 6 weeks left. Besides the wildfires and heat your not missing much (weather wise)....ha ha. We miss you too and of course if you met your prince charming over there (maybe it's fate) we would totally understand, because you are a truly special person and deserve only the very best! Have a great weekend Shannon!....Todd :-)
Hey Bonnier Grow Peep,
You are half way there with your Grow Program commitment and doing so well. The journal and photos on your blog have been simply marvelous! Liked this one with mentioning how your bro Eric looks like Bon Jovi! Cute...
Enjoy your time and keep up the good work!
BK,
Mombo
Shannon-- you are such a girl of the digital age!! Back in the old days, the machines that did the printing were called PRESSES, not printers. I bet that was an interesting tour.
Miss you--
Your old lady pal,
Suz
