Week 3 February 20th

Well as week 3 comes to a close I am happy to report it was yet again a very busy week for me in Helsinki. At work we continued to work on the website in hope to meet our goal by next month. I also had meetings with Tuomas about the images used in Olivia and the layout of the pages of the magazine. We talked about the overall look of the magazine and how the photos and images are everything!! We also had a meeting at Soul Kitchen where we got to eat some hamburgers and french fries and enjoy the tunes of some good soul! It was awesome. It has been quite a week for weather I have to admit. With the days very cold it allows me to walk the ice tomorrow which I am excited about. It's something you can do here when the week is cold and in a sense you are walking on water!! hahaha well ice..whatever. It's cool! On Wednesday I was very happy to see that it was snowing on the way to work. It is only about a 10 minute walk and to have the little flurrys really made my day. On Monday night I went to Tiki's flat and had what she calls pesto-mess for dinner and it was SOOOO good! We had fun talking and hanging out. It was nice too to see where she lived. Her place is rad. It's all decked out with cool art and music and movies and her curtains are way cool, too. It makes me want to come back and decorate. :) Oh and she lives on the 6 1/2 floor like in Being John Malkovich. On Wednesday I went climbing with Kaisa and it was so much harder than I thought. Kaisa is way good at it. Her brother came along, too and he is really good as well. It was without ropes so you can imagine how difficult it can be.

My muscles are feeling it today. But it was a lot of fun! Then last night I went out to Cafe Strindberg at Pohjoisesplanadi 33 (in Kämp Galleria) to meet Päivi who is Product Manager for Consumer Services and New Business for MTV3 here in Finland. We were at this café that had couches and enjoyed chatting and getting to know each other. She is also part of the GROW program and will be visiting Orlando to work with Leigh Bingham in May with us. On Thursday next week I am to meet the CEO of MTV3 and other graphic designers at the office around 10AM she said. Also, we are planning to hit that ice skating rink by my house on Sunday. Should be an exciting time. This weekend I plan to do the tourist thing. I have the Helsinki Card which you buy at one price and it allows you to on transportation for free and museums for free so I have a plan to visit as much as I can. I think the city audio tour will be good to try as well which is also included. I will make sure to take lots of pictures for sure. This morning I went and played badminton with 3 other people here at work. They have a team that plays every week and I decided to try it out. It was fun!

And to my surprise at work we had a huge breakfast prepared for us. It was awesome! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! :)

I can't tell you how green with envy I am. Ice skating! I used to ice skate every weekend when I was a kid. It's so much fun. Talk about muscle aches though. And I love playing badminton. You don't see too many badminton teams here in the states!

Absolutely loved to hear about all that you have done. You are right the photos and images are everything! I'm sure you are lending a big help to the overall set-up of the website. The "Pesto Mess" sounded like you really enjoyed it. Did you get a chance to walk on water...ha, ha, ha! Sounds like you are making the most of your trip. Good luck on Thursday when you meet the CEO of MTV3 and some of the other graphic designers. Let us know how that works out. Enjoy and we think and talk about you dear gal all the time. Miss you too! Hey Shannon! Sounds like you're covering all the bases-- Meeting with executives, working hard, and exploring everything possible-- I am SOOOOOO jealous!! I saw Patti's comment above-- I used to go ice skating in St Louis a couple of times a week at a rink right across the street from my house-- it was so peaceful. Thinking of you-- Suz
