Weekend #3
So It is hard to believe that I just started my 4th week here in Helsinki. I have to admit the time is flying as I knew it would. Still no cable or internet at the flat, but as you have noticed I keep very busy with my evenings and weekends. In fact Monday I was feeling how tired I was just with all the walking around I did. I didn't make it to the zoo, but I am saving that for another weekend. And I was too tired to go ice skating that I am actually going tonight instead with Päivi. Should be fun. Today it’s ”Laskiaistiistai”, which is connected to Easter and in Finland today people go out to slide down the hills so actually ice-skating is good. Afterwards Päivi said we can go to an café to eat “laskiaispulla”. I will let you know all about it. I got the golden ticket for next weekend to visit Michelle in Sweden and she is coming to visit this weekend along with Tom James should be a fun weekend. We plan to go skiing and snowboarding with Tiki. Ok so before I get ahead of myself...lemme tell you what happened this weekend. Friday I was so tired from playing badminton I went home and took a nap and then when I woke I decided to go to the coolest night club in Helsinki so my boss says and he is right! It is called Redrum and lucky for me its on my street! So I went out with Tiki and her sister and we danced the night away. Silly dancing for sure. This club has hotties too! I had a blast. The next morning I woke up and decided to play tourist. I bought a Helsinki Tour Card and it allows you to explore the city and get into museums for free and also transportation for free. And you get an Audio City tour that lasts about an hour and a half. Needless to say I wanted to get my euros worth so i went to so many museums in two days that I needed a break by yesterday. Over the two days I visited the Natural History Museum, Bank of Finland, The Museum of Cultures, the Sports Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kaisma and The Amos Anderson Art Museum. You can only imagine how tired I was yesterday. It was all so very awesome though and I experienced all forms of transportation here, too. I got to ride the metro, the tram, the bus and the train all in one day!! Oh yeah! I even went shopping again. Oh and Saturday night I went to see the movie Milk with Sean Penn. Those who haven't seen it. It's so good! I went to a place called Bakers for dinner before that and had grilled reindeer...I know it was a bit over the top but I wanted to try something new. I also had a delicious piece of cake, too. Yum! I ended the touring on Sunday at the Aussie bar. It looked like a cool place to try too so I went there to sit and drink an Australian beer. In the mix of it all I met some really cool people and then moved to Mollys. yes i know...Again. But this time we went and saw the band of the week and I even got on stage. They were singing Sweet Home Alabama and my friend James went on stage to sing and I also did. So I screamed at the top of my lungs and thought of Sweet Home Alabama where my parents are now living. It was a blast. The Audio Tour was an hour and a half that Sunday morning and it took you all over the city. You will see some pictures that you have seen before, but I had to take again cause it was just such a beautiful day. The city was shining with sunlight! Something I very much miss!
